The Deptt. of Tourism, Govt.
of UP vide its Let. No.
20065/99-15-1-802(2)T.T./99-2000, Dated: 18-3-99
has organised committee as "Mahotsav Samiti,
Varanasi" under the Chairmanship of Divisional
Commissionar, Varanasi Division. This Mahotsav
Samiti is registered under Societies Act, 1860.
The Local Officers of Tourism Deptt. works as
Secretary of Samiti; whereas, other senior Govt.
officers like District Magistrate, Municipal
Commissionor, Senior Superintendent of Police,
Chief Treasury Officer etc. are entrusted with
different responsibilities as members of the
Mahotsav Samiti, Grants received from Govt. of
UP and the Govt. of India are the major
financial
resources for samiti to organise such events.

(A) |
Organizing Festivals (Mahotsav) and make
all allied arrangements, so that
Handicrafts and Handlooms of state and
national awardees artisans & Craftsmen
from different states of India may
exhibit, demonstrate and sell, their
products. |

To
organize expositions of cultural
heritage of the country and states viz.
Dance, Music, Plays and traditional
small scale industries of states, so
that domestic and international tourist
may get glimpses of them. |

To
organize exhibitions/Sale of regional
handicrafts and Crafts. |
|
(D) |
Organizing different Cultural Programmes,
Craft Fairs and widely advertise them on
National & International hook up through
Doordarshan and other sources of
communication. |
